Girls of Storm and Shadow (Girls of Paper and Fire, #2) by Natasha Ngan

Rating: 2.5/5

I am so incredibly sad that I didn't like this more.

This was one of my most anticipated books of this year. I remember reading the first novel and constantly sending my friends photos of various lines throughout the book and rating it five stars on my old Goodreads profile, but for Girls of Storm and Shadow, I felt very disinterested. The fire and vigor of the girls in the first book seemed to flail down in this one a lot. The story just felt really long without much action.

Correction; the action fighting scenes felt very long, but nothing much else actually occurred plot-wise. While Lei's metaphors to fire and paper in the first novel were very wonderful to me, I found them a bit overdone in this one.

I stand by my recommendation of the first novel. Girls of Paper and Fire was absolutely amazing for me, but I'm not sure about its sequel.
