I never planned on reading this book. I did watch the film when it was released, but just with all the scandalous things going up, I didn’t have an interest in delving into the source material.

But then, I walked into my local bookstore and found a copy of Call Me By Your Name in the $2 bin.

I thought this was very simply romantic for what it was. He loved him. That was the story, and that was how it was going to be. I think Aciman does well at portraying a first love with an older person from the perspective of a teenager, and I can attest to that with my own experiences.

The descriptions of love were very pretty, but I think the novel itself felt a bit simplistic.

He came. He left. Nothing else had changed. I had not changed. The world hadn't changed. Yet nothing would be the same. All that remains is dreammaking and strange remembrance.
